Beliefs & Values: Doctrine
The members of Port Orange Christian Church believe in the fact that God so loved the world that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ to die for our sin. And he rose from the dead on the third day.
We stand on the fact that he was born of the Virgin Mary.
We stand on the fact that because of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, that our relationship with God is restored through faith, repentance, confession, baptism by immersion and obedience.
We stand on the fact that the Bible is inerrant.
We stand on the fact that Jesus Christ is coming back and there will be Judgement Day.
Port Orange Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational church with a rich heritage in what has been called the Restoration Movement. In the early part of the 19th century, a group of Christ followers grew frustrated with much of the divisiveness they saw among Christians of their day. Consequently, they sought to unite and bring reformation to their own churches and denominations. Their creed (belief) was Christ and they were committed to no other book of faith other than the Bible. They believed in the authority of the Scriptures and that if people returned to God through following the Scriptures, people would unite around Jesus Christ and more people would come to know Him.
We hold the same conviction today. We don't promote any denominational creed. We seek to follow Jesus Christ and don't label ourselves with any other name than Christian. Although we exist apart from any external authority or control, we do participate with other churches in projects and programs that exalt Jesus Christ and spread the Gospel.
