My name is Deborah Elmquist. I am a Florida born native, raised in a military family and lived in many states, as well as, three years in Germany. After moving back to the states my parents retired and settled in Central Florida. I graduated from the University of South Florida with my Bachelors in Education, then received in Masters from Rollins College in Reading. Later after twenty years in the public schools teaching, I earned a Specialists and Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida. I have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Teaching is my passion and even though I am now retired, I still teach as an instructor in drawing and oil painting. Teaching for me is about connecting with others and making a difference in a person’s life. As a newly graduated Stephen Minister, I am excited to continue connecting with others and sharing the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We will all experience a time in our life when we will need to reach out and connect with someone for guidance, encouragement, and a listening heart. I welcome this opportunity as a Shepherd’s Hope Lay Ministry Counselor to be God’s foot soldier and to serve in the greatest army of all.
