Matt Rodgers

 Senior Pastor

Having been born and raised in the Greater Daytona Beach area Matt has always been in love with the culture and people the make up East Volusia County.  As a graduate of “Creek” and Florida Christian College he will always bleed orange and black but cheer for the orange and blue.  He enjoys the outdoors and looks for anyway he can to nurture that same love in his wife and children.  Matt has never found anything though that excites him as much as standing up and proclaiming God’s Word with sincerity, love, and humor.  See you outside.

What do you like to do?
I enjoy running around with my family visiting new places and new people.  I enjoy fishing alone and with friends as it is, “a forced evacuation of the mind.”

What do you like to listen to?
I always enjoy good praise music from Crowder or Hillsong along with my staple of Jack Johnson.

Where do you like to eat?
Wherever the food is good and smothered in BBQ sauce, and anywhere outside, which is where life should be lived.

What do you like to watch?
Football, International Soccer, and Mentalist.

Adam Sarwi

Youth Pastor

Adam is a Daytona Beach area lifer.  He was born at Halifax Hospital and has lived here most of his life.  He is an Apple enthusiast that graduated from Florida Christian College in 2006 with a BA in Preaching.  He has been a member of POCC nearly since its inception.  Adam lives in Port Orange with his wife Rebecca and two dogs, Marty and Roxie.

What do you like to do?
I have too many hobbies, but I find myself playing/winning board games with my wife and friends a bunch. I play with my ornery West Highland Terrier, Sir Martin the Magnificent (Marty for short).  I enjoy songwriting, surfing my 9’2” longboard, and growing tomatoes that I won’t eat.

What do you like to listen to?
Good music, like Coldplay, Andrew Peterson, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Jimmy Eat World, Brian Regan

Where do you like to eat?
I like Subs

What do you like to watch?
Lost, Lost, and more Lost. The Cosby Show, 30 Rock, Scrubs, and dang if Community doesn't make me laugh so hard my mouth hurts.

What makes you laugh?
Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, and watching my dog bark nervously at the fake squirrel in my back yard.

Sherry Rodgers

Worship Arts

Sherry came to POCC in July of 2006 to become the Music Minister after teaching K-6th grade Music for three years at a private school and volunteering leading Worship. She is a graduate of Florida Christian College with a Bachelor's in Music Education (Ministry).

Sherry and Matt have been married for 14 years and have two children: Kiersten (13) and Taylor (6).

What do you like to do?
Obviously.. sing! Spend time with my family and friends. Fishing and doing other outdoorsy (is that a word?) stuff with the family.

What do you like to listen to?
Dakoda Motor Company ROCKS! (the original Dakoda, with Davia) and anything that is NOT country.

Where do you like to eat?
Anywhere that is not bar-b-que! Seafood is my favorite.

What do you like to watch?
Chuck, Life, The Mentalist, and fishing shows (whoops, that's Matt; I just get forced to watch them with him!). With the kids I watch Phineas and Ferb, Andy Griffith Show, Cosby Show, Little House on the Prairie (ok, I watch this without the kids, too), and America's Funniest Videos.

What places have you lived?

I have lived numerous places in FL, for example Bradenton, Oviedo and Kissimmee, but I would have to say that the Port Orange area is where I would consider home. I moved here in the third grade and graduated from Spruce Creek. I started college here also, before I continued my education at FCC. As a married couple, Matt and I lived in KY for five years. God moved us back here in 2006 to minister at POCC, and it has been great to be back and see family and friends.
